Do I need an account or an internet connection? No. The app has no accounts and works entirely offline, including Play Nearby. Only the optional Game Center leaderboards and achievements need an internet connection.
How do I learn the rules? Open a game and tap the question-mark button at the top of the screen. Each game has its own rules page.
How do I play a card? Tap it, or swipe it toward the table. In Pasoor you can also drop a card onto the table card you want to capture. If you prefer tapping only, turn off “Swipe Cards to Play” in the settings.
How do I change the language? In the settings, under Language. The app switches between English and Persian (فارسی) straight away.
How do I change the difficulty? Open a game and tap the gear button at the top of the screen.
How do I turn the music on or off? Tap the music button at the top of the main screen. It opens the track list, where you can turn music on or off, choose a track, and repeat one track or play them all. Music, sound effects and haptics can also be switched on or off in the settings.
Can I change the card backs or the table color? Yes, in the settings. There are four card-back designs and a choice of table colors.
Is my game saved if I leave the app? Yes. A game in progress is saved on your device and resumes when you come back.
How do I play with people in the same room? Everyone opens Play Nearby on the main menu on their own iPhone or iPad. One person taps Host Hokm or Host Pasoor; the others tap Join on that table. The host taps Start. The computer plays any empty seats. Hokm takes up to four players, Pasoor two.
My phone doesn’t see the table.
Someone’s phone dropped out. Their seat is kept for 30 seconds and the table waits for them. They can open Play Nearby again and tap Rejoin. After 30 seconds the computer plays for them until they rejoin.
Does Play Nearby send my data anywhere? No. Devices talk to each other directly and the connection is encrypted. Only your chosen name and your moves go to the other players at your table. See the privacy policy.
How do the leaderboards work? Tap the trophy on the main screen and sign in to Game Center (optional). Leaderboards count matches against the computer at Hard (and Brutal in Pasoor; Pasoor matches played to 62 or more). If you change the level during a match, that match does not count. Play Nearby matches never count. Achievements count at any level.
Does the app collect any data? No. The privacy policy is at https://redheart826.github.io/CardGame-Privacy/
